Jarosław Kużdżał is professor at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum, Cracow, Poland. He is a graduate of the Jagiellonian University, Cracow, and Fellow of the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (FETCS). After training in general surgery at the Jagiellonian University he completed training in thoracic surgery (2000). Jarosław Kużdżał received PhD degree in 2002, habilitation in 2008 and was appointed professor at the Jagiellonian University (2012). He published 165 papers in in peer-reviewed journals with total Impact Factor of 476, with 3346 citations and Hirsch index 21. Prof. Kużdżał was active member of the Council of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS): Director of Annual Meeting (2011-2013), President (2016-2017) and Director of External Relations (2018-2018). He conceived and edited the ESTS Textbook of Thoracic Surgery. Also, he was Council member of the Polish Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Secretary of the Polish Thoracic Surgeons Club and Visiting Professor, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. He is active in training of students of the Jagiellonian University and thoracic surgical residents, and teaching on courses organised by ESTS, European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) and European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
