
FR, FranceVirginie Westeel, MD, PhD , is Professor of Pulmonology at the Marie and Louis Pasteur University, Besançon, France. She is the head of the Cardio-Thoracic Department and of the Thoracic Oncology unit in the University Hospital of Besançon, France. Her clinical and research activities are exclusively devoted to lung cancer. Her research interests include lung cancer therapeutics, follow-up strategies and evidence-based medicine. She is the Principal Investigator of the only large multicentre randomized trial conducted to date on post-surgical follow-up in lung cancer, for which she received the IASLC Robert Ginsberg Merit Award. She has served as Coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Lung Cancer Review Group since 2013. She was president of the French Thoracic Cancer Intergroup (Intergroupe Francophone de Cancérologie Thoracique; IFCT) between 2019 and 2025.
